Loretokapelle chapel

When the later Mayor of Rosenheim, Georg Schaur, fell seriously ill on a pilgrimage to Rome and Loreto in 1600, he vowed to build a chapel modelled on the Casa Santa upon his return. After several setbacks due to war and the outbreak of the plague, he was finally able to begin construction in 1635, which was completed a year later when the Prince-Bishop of Freising consecrated the chapel.

Even today, the chapel is still well preserved thanks to successive renovation work and is therefore a stunning attraction that enriches the city of Rosenheim.
